Family, friends, and members of the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred racing community will come together on Saturday, July 18, to celebrate the life and legacy of Charles Lyman during the Lyman Memorial at Parx Racing.
The memorial race, scheduled as the seventh race of the day, will serve as a tribute to a man whose passion, dedication, and contributions to Thoroughbred racing left a lasting impact on the sport and on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Charles was widely respected throughout the racing community for his commitment to the industry and the relationships he built over the years. His love for Thoroughbred racing and his dedication to excellence earned him admiration from colleagues, friends, and those who shared his passion for the sport.
Before the race begins, attendees will have the opportunity to honor Charles through a special tribute video displayed on the track’s large screen. The presentation will highlight his life, achievements, and the many memories created with family, friends, and fellow members of the racing community.
Following the race, guests will gather in the winner’s circle for a commemorative photograph and a special moment of remembrance. The gathering will allow those whose lives were touched by Charles to come together, share memories, and celebrate the legacy he leaves behind.
The Lyman family has also invited attendees to spend time with Charles’ son, Kai, who will be present during the tribute. Kai hopes to reconnect with many of his father’s longtime friends, colleagues, and supporters while continuing to learn from the community that played such an important role in Charles’ life.
Inspired by his father’s career and deep connection to Thoroughbred racing, Kai hopes to continue the family legacy and pursue his own path within Pennsylvania’s racing industry.
As the racing community prepares to honor Charles Lyman, the memorial race will stand as a reminder of the passion, dedication, and influence of a man whose presence will not be forgotten. His legacy will continue through the people he inspired, the sport he loved, and the family he cherished.
May Charles Lyman’s memory continue to live on through the racing community and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
