Authorities continue searching for Adam Kurtz, a 59-year-old Gilberts, Illinois, resident who was reported missing after leaving his home in the Timber Trails subdivision on Sunday, July 12, 2026. The Gilberts Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance as officers and search teams work to locate him. According to investigators, Kurtz left his residence at approximately 1:00 p.m. riding a black Trek mountain bike. He was last seen heading toward the Big Timber area.
At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black tank top, dark or black shorts, a white baseball cap, and dark-colored tennis shoes. Law enforcement agencies, search-and-rescue personnel, and community volunteers have coordinated extensive search efforts in and around wooded areas near Elgin, following all available leads.
